Women in Afghanistan had their former dreams of being professional students shattered as the Taliban patrolled the streets.

A woman – a student and a member of the persecuted Hazara minority – told the BBC that all her hope had been replaced by fear in just a few days.

“Everything, everything I dreamed of, everything I ever worked for. “My dignity, my pride, even my existence as a girl, my life – are all in danger,” she said.

“Who knows how long it would take for them to come from house to house looking for girls and taking girls – maybe raping them. I may have to kill myself when they come to my house. I have talked to my friends. This is what all of us, all of us, are planning to do. Death is better than being caught by them. “We are all scared and we are scared to the bone,” she said, Klankosova.tv reports.
