Northern Macedonia on Sunday (June 13th) did not register any casualties with COVID-19 marking the first day without casualties since September last year.

Northern Macedonia has had the highest number of deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic, not only in the region but also beyond, compared to the population.

Rising COVID-19 rates today forced the Swiss government to pull out of plans to ease blockade measures in the coming days.

“The epidemiological situation no longer allows the government to lift exit restrictions or start businesses,” said Health Minister Alain Berset.

Instead, the only change planned would be to allow 10 people, out of five in advance, to gather inside for private events.

“Please be a little more patient,” Berset told restaurants and event organizers, who are pushing for the restrictions to be lifted so they can resume activities.

The decision, whether to allow outdoor dining in restaurants or lift restrictions on cultural events and sporting activities, will now come in mid-April.
