Working breakfast organised in the framework of the ROMACTED Programme in Serbia

A working breakfast was organized by the Office of the Council of Europe in Belgrade and the ROMACTED program with the participation of the Minister for Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue, Gordana Comic. The event was attended by the heads of missions from the member and observer states of the Council of Europe, the delegation of the European Union in Serbia and the resident UN coordinator.

The event was moderated by the head of the Council of Europe office in Belgrade, Mr Tobias FLESSENKEMPER, who highlighted the Council of Europe’s longstanding work on Roma issues and the implementation of the ROMACTED program as a joint initiative with the European Union (EU).

The Head of Cooperation of the EU Delegation in Serbia, Mr. Yngve ENGSTROM, gave a warm welcome, emphasizing the fruitful cooperation with the Council of Europe and the importance of the work done through joint programs and projects.

The Minister of the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue, Ms. Gordana COMIC, shared the results of recent visits to 29 Serbian counties, where the Ministry carried out a situation analysis in Roma communities.

Ms. Marina VASIC, ROMACTED program manager, explained the path to the creation of the ROMACTED program and the joint efforts of the Council of Europe and the EU to strengthen the Roma communities through several joint programs / projects since 2011.

The closing words were given by HE Attila PINTER, Ambassador of Hungary to Serbia on behalf of the Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers, and Mr Tobias FLESSENKEMPER, Head of the Office of the Council of Europe in Belgrade.

The event was organized to add visibility to the work of the Council of Europe on Roma integration issues and in particular the ROMACTED program. Questions and comments were lively raised by the heads of missions of the member and observer countries of the Council of Europe and the resident UN coordinator. In addition, the discussion concluded that better cooperation between the relevant actors is needed and expected in order to properly address the integration of Roma in Serbia.

Serbia Adopts Changes to Film and TV Incentives Programme

The change is intended to facilitate and accelerate the functioning of the incentive program of the Film Center Serbia, which is subordinate to the Ministry of Culture and Information.

The budget planned for these activities for 2021 is around EUR 6 million / RSD 700 million and thus remains at the same level as in previous years. The amount of the cash discount also remains the same. The program, launched in April 2016, offers a 25% discount on qualified Serbian editions for feature films, TV series, animated films, documentaries and visual effects, 20% for TV commercials and 30% discount on qualified Serbian editions for feature films with a budget of at least EUR 5 million . Applications can still be submitted and submitted throughout the year and the Film Center Serbia remains the administrator of the programs.
