Malisheva coach, Arsim Thaqi, said that the players of the team he leads have made many mistakes.

However, he has called for these mistakes to be corrected for the next duels.

“I hope to correct today’s mistakes for the next duels. We had many strong matches against Prishtina, Drita and the Balkans. This has affected this match. Drenica withdrew in the second half, but we had our chances. This is football, I wish Drenica victory. We with a little luck would come out undefeated. We will try to get positive results in the next matches “, said coach Thaqi after the match.

In the eighth round, Malisheva will have another difficult confrontation as she awaits Gjilan.

Minister of VV proposes reduction of the number of vehicles to improve air quality in Prishtina

The Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure, Liburn Aliu, has mentioned some steps that the Kurti Government will take to improve air quality in Prishtina.

Aliu said that reducing the number of cars entering the capital would be one of the ways to improve air quality.

“Not very easy decisions are required from the mayors, the number of cars in the center should be reduced”, he said, among other things.

He also spoke about other air pollutants, mentioning the “Kosova B” power plant as one of the major polluters.

“Even the energy from the power plants that is produced creates pollution. Kosovo B, for example, has non-functional filters. “One of the main polluters comes from the Kosova B power plant,” he said.

“Also, the other polluter in the winter time, as well as the main cause, is from households which burn coal for heating. We have poor households that use coal for heating. It will not be easy to stop heating for a while, without an alternative solution and this is an extraordinary challenge for both the municipality and our government “, he declared.

The 'E-Health' project is launched, it is required to improve health care

At the Main Family Medicine Center (MFMC) in Prishtina, the project “E-Health” was launched to help avoid contacts between doctor and patient.

Here, it was also said that health care needs to be improved.

UNFPA has delivered 186 tablets in order to launch E-Health for Essential Health Services in the Municipality of Prishtina.

This project is funded by the United Kingdom through the British Embassy in Pristina, and is implemented by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in coordination with the United Nations team in Kosovo (UNKT) MoH, NIPHK and AKM.

The mayor of Prishtina, Shpend Ahmeti, said that he would like the situation to be different after a year of pandemics and for the situation to be normalized.

Ahmeti said the E-Health platform will help avoid contacts between doctor and patient.

“It has been a long time since he asked for doctors to be on the front lines. Despite the fact that we have faced nervous patients who have often expressed concern to doctors, we have tried to provide medicines for free and our tests and duties as a municipality are that of service and to be close to the citizens. Today I would be happy to speak differently and without masks and not for 600 cases a day and thus the normalization of life. “E-Health is to avoid unnecessary contact between doctor and patient,” he said.

United Nations Development Coordinator Ulrika Richardson said families with poor economies have had difficulty accessing health and social services.

Richardson said that in Kosovo there is injustice in the provision of health services.

“For me, you are heroes because the world is looking at the miracle of work done by health professionals. What we have seen with Covid in the world is support and as a UN family we have done a lot of important work together. Many citizens live in poor households and we have seen that they have had a more difficult time in health and social services. I hope we will return to a new normalcy. “In Kosovo, health care needs to be improved,” said Richardson.

The Ambassador of the United Kingdom in Kosovo, Nicholas Abbot, said that due to the pandemic many patients with other health problems could not receive other services.

“Since the world began to face the challenge of public health in Kosovo is continuing with serious consequences and has negatively affected the essential health services because many citizens have not received proper treatment and that is why we have joined forces to we help Kosovo against this virus and to face the crises in the future ”.

The Director of Health in the Municipality of Prishtina, Bujar Gashi, spoke about the challenges faced by the health staff.

“Dealing with the pandemic is even more challenging for developed systems than for us, and help is welcome. In this case and the region, we will start with consultations with our citizens “, said Gashi.

Supporting Serbia to strengthen health systems and improve health

Strong health systems are an essential foundation for detecting and treating disease, as well as ensuring public health. This was the key message from Dr. Hans Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe, during his brief visit to Serbia on February 24th and 25th, who underlined that working with countries is at the heart of his vision for health.

Dr. Kluge presented his vision for health in the WHO European Region to the health workers of tomorrow at the Medical Faculty of the University of Belgrade: a joint action for better health with a special focus on countries.

COVID-19 was a ubiquitous issue throughout the visit. In an interview with the press, Dr. Kluge said Serbia is committed and ready to deal with possible cases of COVID-19, adding that it is leaving the country with confidence.

Working in partnership

During their stay in Serbia, Dr. Kluge and the Serbian Minister of Health Dr. Zlatibor Lončar a biannual cooperation agreement. This is a two-year collaboration agreement between WHO / Europe and a Member State as a guide for collaboration. This agreement highlighted the need to build stronger health systems and work on priority health issues in the country, including noncommunicable diseases and vaccination.

High-level meetings were held with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Prime Minister Ana Brnabić. The aim of these meetings was to discuss specific health issues and to agree on how WHO / Europe can do more to help Serbia achieve its health goals by working with the highest levels of government. One of the main issues was the importance of combating air pollution.

On the ground

During a visit to a primary care center, Savski Venac, Dr. Kluge had the opportunity to talk to health workers about their work in the community, including fighting antibiotic resistance, addressing vaccine reluctance, and uncovering potential cases of COVID-19.

The sterling work of these centers has reduced the use of antimicrobials by around 40% since 2015. After a measles outbreak in 2017-2018, Serbia responded by increasing vaccination rates to bring the number of cases under control and end the outbreak in August 2019.

In addition to high-level meetings, the visit provided the opportunity to talk to health workers and partner agencies about their work on site in Serbia. Meeting with UN and EU colleagues, including the European Union Ambassador to Serbia, provided WHO / Europe with an opportunity to learn more about how the different agencies can work together to improve health in Serbia.
