The aggravated situation with the pandemic, Kurti is expected to meet with the mayors of Kosovo tomorrow

Tomorrow, Prime Minister Albin Kurti will meet with Kosovo mayors to discuss the pandemic situation in the country.

The decision for the meeting came after the director of the Association of Kosovo Municipalities, Sazan Ibrahimi, reacted earlier to the government’s negligence in making municipalities part of the Pandemic Management Committee.

Ibrahimi in a response to the Telegraph, said that it is surprising how the Government has not even contacted them to discuss this issue.

“How can a group be called a coordinator when the representatives of the municipalities are not there.

I do not know how the institutions where the measures are implemented can be forgotten (intentionally or unintentionally “, said Ibrahimi.

He further stressed that the measures against coronavirus are not implemented in Government offices but in municipalities, where there is a development of citizens’ lives.

“Anti-COVID measures are not implemented in government offices but in municipalities because the life of the citizen takes place there and not in government offices and without cooperation with municipalities I do not know how the implementation of measures can succeed,” said Ibrahimi.

Otherwise, on Monday Kosovo registered another 20 victims as a result of COVID-19.

According to the announcement of the Ministry of Health, in the previous 24 hours, 932 new cases of coronavirus infections have been registered./Telegrafi.

Kryetarët e komunave kanë përmbushur vetëm 47% e premtimeve

GAP Institute has published on the electronic platform “Municipal Identity Card”, the latest assessment on the fulfillment of the promises of mayors from the local elections 2017. This monitoring includes the fulfillment of promises by December 2020.

According to GAP, Out of a total of 869 promises identified by the GAP Institute, in 25 different municipalities of Kosovo, by December 2020, 411 promises have been fulfilled, 186 promises have been partially fulfilled, 158 promises have begun to be fulfilled, while for 114 promises it is not identified any initiative in meeting them.

“Looking at the percentage, out of 869 promises given, by December 2020 only 47% of the promises have been fulfilled. Most of the promises have been fulfilled in the field of social welfare 74%, followed by the field of administration 58%, in the field of economy 57%, in the field of agriculture 56%, in the field of health 50%, in the field of public services 47% and in the field of infrastructure 45%. The areas where the promises have been least fulfilled are the areas of urbanization, education and culture. The municipality that is not included in the update this time is that of Podujeva, where at the end of November 2020, extraordinary elections for mayor were held. GAP monitored the promises of the candidates for mayor and noted that the current mayor of this municipality has given 44 promises in various fields. GAP Institute monitors the fulfillment of promises in 26 out of 38 municipalities, because 12 of the current mayors did not conduct an election campaign in 2017 (Skenderaj, Mamusha and Serb-majority municipalities) “, it is said in a GAP press release.

Through the evaluation of election promises, the GAP Institute aims to hold elected mayors accountable for their promises. Evaluation of promises is done periodically through cooperation with local organizations.
