British Minister of Health positive with COVID-19: I was fully vaccinated

July 17, 2021 – 23:10

Senior public health executives from across the UK have accused Boris Johnson of spreading Covid-19, easing legal restrictions, amid warnings that a rising tide of infections will intensify a summer health system crisis in the country. The reprimand comes as the Secretary of Health in England, Sajid Javid, tested positive for coronavirus, despite being fully vaccinated.

A positive PCR test result creates an uncomfortable situation for the prime minister. According to the rules of probation and tracing, anyone who has been in contact with Javid in the previous 48 hours will have to be isolated. The Secretary of Health visited Downing Street on Friday, leaving Johnson in an awkward position. Javid has also visited a care home in recent days.

The British Prime Minister can avoid self-isolation if he has participated in a pilot system that allows people to work by doing a daily test. Johnson risks being accused of double standards if not isolated, while the government continues to urge the public to follow the rules of self-isolation.

Johnson’s use of the scheme also risks angering Conservative MPs who oppose strict isolation rules.

Doctors and opposition lawmakers said Javid’s positive test, although fully vaccinated, highlighted the additional risk for 32% of adults and all children who had not taken both doses.

54,674 new cases were reported on Saturday and 41 deaths from coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

There has been widespread concern from public health officials at the prime minister’s claim that people should “learn to live” with Covid-19 and “exercise their personal responsibility”.

In a letter to the Observer, the four independent UK public health bodies representing more than 130 UK public health directors, as well as environmental health teams and public health experts, warn: “Living with Covid-19 is not the same as letting it get out of control. We must act cautiously, not carelessly… The government must promote effective public health measures because personal responsibility will not be enough ”.

Dozens of UK cancer charities joined forces to make a strong joint prayer to the public, to continue taking measures that will help protect those who are most vulnerable to the virus.

Schools across England are closing early for the summer holidays, or are switching to online teaching as tens of thousands of students are forced to isolate themselves at home as a result of rising infections. / A2

Speculation about the Basic Agreement is harmful, the dialogue is heading for a positive outcome

The Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral announced that current legal issues, including the issue of the Basic Agreement between the Serbian Orthodox Church and the state of Montenegro, were discussed at the meeting of its legal council, held yesterday.

The Metropolitan adds that a dialogue is being held between the contracting parties with the aim of agreeing and signing it as soon as possible.

“All media speculations and manipulations that have been and are progressing can only harm the mentioned dialogue between the Church and the state, which, in the opinion of the Legal Council, is heading towards a positive and expected outcome,” the statement said.

The regular meeting of the Legal Council of the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral in Podgorica was attended by members of the Council, as well as Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral Joanikije and Bishops Dimitrije of Zahumlje-Herzegovina and newly elected Bishop of Budva-Niksic Methodius.

Luka Milivojevic tests positive for COVID-19, set to miss Serbia's Euro 2020 play-off tie against Scotland

Serbia will miss the services of Luka Milivojevic when they play against Scotland in a EURO 2020 playoff game on Thursday night after the midfielder tested positive for COVID-19.

The Crystal Palace man was the only positive case in the Serbian camp who tested positive in two different tests on Monday and Tuesday.

“After regular tests on COVID-19 carried out on Monday when the players of the representative team arrived at the sports center of the Serbian Football Association in Stara Pazova, the result for the captain of the Crystal Palace Milivojević was positive,” it said in a statement.

Added: “In accordance with UEFA medical regulations and protocols, Luka Milivojević left the sports center immediately after receiving the result and stayed at home in self-isolation in Serbia.

“The next day he underwent another control test, which was also positive. He will remain in Serbia in accordance with the applicable laws of the Republic of Serbia related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“All A-Team players and technical staff had negative results after additional tests, so all other representative players are available to coach Ljubiša Tumbaković for today’s game against Scotland.”

Milivojevic will now miss the game against Scotland and possibly the UEFA Nations League game against Hungary.

He stated that the mother, who gave birth naturally on Monday, has bilateral pneumonia, severe gas exchange disorder and relatively low saturation.

– We are currently maintaining these values with non-invasive ventilation. She hasn’t been intubated yet, she’s not on mechanical ventilation. Hopefully, there will be no need to intensify respiratory support – said Jankovic.

The pregnant woman was originally supposed to give birth by caesarean section, but due to urgency, the delivery was performed by anesthesiologists from the University Clinical Center Nis, and Janković says that they coped quite well and that the obstetricians arrived very quickly.

Pse disa njerëz janë pozitivë me COVID pas vaksinimit?

The antiCOVID-19 vaccine does not provide complete or immediate protection against infection, which means that it is still possible to become infected and test positive for the virus.

This happened to Democratic MP Stephen Lynch from Massachusetts. He tested positive for COVID-19 after taking a second dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Hall of Fame basketball coach Rick Pitino was also positive after taking the first dose. There are several reasons why they came out positive, writes CNN.

According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the vaccine takes several days to several weeks to work. You can be positive for the test before the vaccine works.

“It takes some time to develop an immune response,” said Robert Salata, director of the Roe Green University Hospital Center for Travel Medicine and Global Health in Cleveland, USA.

“After 14 days, the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine was about 52 percent effective in preventing the disease,” said Salata, who was a lead researcher on the Pfizer vaccine at his hospital.

Stephane Bancel, executive director of Moderna, says the first dose may provide protection, but at the moment “there is no data to prove it”.

After vaccination, you can still be tested positive because the vaccine is not 100 percent effective. Two US-approved vaccines are very effective, but do not provide complete protection.

The Pfizer vaccine was 95 percent effective in preventing the disease in clinical trials after people received two doses. The other Modern vaccine was 94 percent effective in preventing the disease in people who took two doses in clinical trials.

Vaccination prevents the disease, but it is not yet clear if and to what extent the vaccine prevents infection.

“The data is less clear whether vaccines will prevent the virus from infecting us and whether we may have asymptomatic cases. This is still being studied, “said William Schaffner, an infectious disease specialist and professor of preventive medicine in the Department of Health Policy at Vanderbilt University.

“As far as we can see, these vaccines prevent the disease, that is, the development of severe forms of the disease,” said Namandje Bumpus, director of the Department of Pharmacology and Molecular Science at Johns Hopkins University.

“But the focus on efficacy does not provide a complete picture, as you may still be affected by COVID, but apparently these cases are still less serious than those forms of the disease that develop in unvaccinated people, and this is really important “, he said.

Vaccine manufacturers are still studying whether vaccines only prevent the development of severe forms of the disease or fully protect them from infections.

If you are asymptomatic, you may still be positive for COVID-19. It also means that even if you are vaccinated, you can still spread the disease, therefore, vaccinated people will still have to wear masks. A person can be an asymptomatic carrier and have the virus in the nasal passages, so when they breathe, speak or sneeze, the coronavirus can still be transmitted to others.

Vaccines do not work retroactively. You may be positive because you were infected before you got the vaccine and did not know it yet. This happened to several health workers in a study published by the American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The study showed that 22 of the 4,081 vaccinated health care workers tested positive for COVID-19 after receiving the first dose.

One of the study’s authors, Eyal Leshem of Sheba Medical Center in Israel, said it was clear that some of the workers who tested positive “were actually infected with coronavirus before taking the first dose.”

There are concerns that some variants that have spread to the US may be less sensitive to the protection provided by vaccines. Preliminary laboratory data show that vaccines should provide protection, and public health officials want to vaccinate as many people as possible in order to limit the chances of the virus mutating.

Manufacturers of COVID-19 vaccines said they are testing to determine if the vaccines work against newer variants and are also working on enhancers that would provide additional protection against newer variants of the coronavirus.

“It is possible to get the flu vaccine on the one hand and the COVID vaccine booster on the other within a year. We will have to adapt to what this virus is doing. “And we have the capacity to keep up with the virus, even to prevent it,” said William Schaffner.
