Billionaire Jeff Bezos successfully completed his space flight on Tuesday, becoming the second private entrepreneur, after Sir Richard Branson, to accomplish such a mission.
On board the New Shepard were his brother Mark, 82-year-old Wally Funk, and 18-year-old student Oliver Daemen.
The space voyage lasted only 11 minutes, from the moment the spacecraft departed from Van Horn base in Texas to land on Earth in western Texas in the middle of the desert. After the capsule touched Earth, Bezos said, “Astronaut Bezos, the most beautiful day of life!”
Two minutes after the flight, the capsule detached from the rocket and continued its vertical flight. Passengers experienced about 4 minutes without the force of gravity and were able to remove their seat belts to enjoy the view from the windows. / a2
