Biden reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, according to a White House statement.
He expressed support for confidence-building measures to ease tensions in Donbas.
Biden also supported active diplomacy, which would lead to progress in the implementation of the Minsk Agreement.
The two leaders expressed support for diplomatic efforts that will begin next week with a bilateral dialogue on strategic stability between Russia and NATO, and Russia and the OSCE, according to a statement posted on the White House website.
The call came days after Biden held a second conversation in a month with Russian President Vladimir Putin amid tensions on Russia’s border with Ukraine, where Russia has stationed about 100,000 troops.
