AKR candidate for mayor of Pristina, Gëzim Mehmeti, during a meeting with residents of the neighborhood Kodra e Trimave, has pledged to resolve property disputes for more than 70 percent of properties in this neighborhood.

“In a meeting with the residents of this neighborhood, I vowed to resolve the issue of ownership. Residents live for years in their homes and are not legitimate owners of their property.

Based on the valid laws, with my proposal and the approval of the Assembly of Prishtina, all residents who have built their houses, the property will be given a symbolic amount of 1 euro and will enjoy the property right in the possession lists. “Such legal disputes have more than 70 percent of these properties”, Mehmeti wrote on Facebook.

He also promised that under his leadership, two new kindergartens will be built in this neighborhood.

Given the nature of the work and assessing the risks of damaging the integrity of TAK, through conflict of interest, the Tax Administration of Kosovo in cooperation with the Anti-Corruption Agency – ACA has drafted and approved the Internal Regulation for the Prevention of Conflict of Interest.

As announced by TAK, this regulation sets restrictions on work outside the TAK institution (and criteria for employment outside the institution). The regulation also restricts contractual relations, protects confidential information and at the same time increases the level of accountability for the declaration and management of conflict of interest, as well as other points.

TAK thanks the citizens for the partnership shown so far for reporting tax irregularities by its officials, at the same time calling on citizens and other institutions to report any doubts regarding the violation of these rules through the toll-free line 0800 -80-800.

Recall that last year TAK in cooperation with the USAID Economic Governance Program in Kosovo drafted the TAK Integrity Improvement Plan which focuses on increasing transparency, increasing accountability, increasing performance, and reducing Discrimination of officials for abuse of office, automating work processes and establishing strict rules for maintaining the integrity of TAK.

The President of the Serbian Helsinki Committee, Sonja Biserko, has stated that the issue of de-addressed Albanians in the Presevo Valley is more of a political issue. In an interview for Euronews Albania, Biserko underlined that the issue is hostage to the status of Kosovo, which for Belgrade is still unresolved.

“All minorities live in a kind of isolation and the Albanian community is probably the most affected because Kosovo is still an open issue for Belgrade and directly related to the resolution of its status,” Biserko said.

According to the well-known human rights activist, the issue should be included in the Brussels-mediated dialogue and taken seriously.

“I think this issue should be included in the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue, because it is one of the unresolved problems and people live in a vacuum. “And since there will be no exchange of territories, or change of borders, their situation must be resolved in a way that guarantees their integration into Serbian society, Serbian institutions and Serbian culture,” said the president of the Serbian Helsinki Committee.

Biserko added that the international community must increase pressure on Belgrade in order to implement the signed agreements on the integration of minorities.

“They should take this problem seriously and urge Serbia to implement the agreements reached between the two parties after 2000. In 2001, the year after which there were three agreements for the integration of the Albanian community in state and public institutions, this that did not happen. At first it seemed that this line would be followed, but unfortunately everything stopped and very few people are integrated in these institutions. The President of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku said today that Prime Minister Albin Kurti has changed his position on several topics related to the dialogue with Serbia.
