Making and posting selfies has a bad effect on the psyche, scientists claim.

Posting selfies on social media has become a practice. Whether people do it out of boredom or to attract attention, this habit is not always harmless as it can turn into a mental disorder, especially in young people, experts warn.

A recent study from Columbia University showed that about 70 percent of teens visit social media every day. At the same time, they smoke five times more often, drink alcohol three times more often, and use marijuana twice as often.

Due to the increasing influence of the internet on personality formation in young people, psychologists warn that such behavior can escalate into a psychological problem.

In fact, the disclosure of private information, as well as photography, leads to increased secretion of dopamine, the hormone of happiness, which is associated with addictive behavior, say Harvard scientists. They believe that social networks are a catalyst for the increasingly lost behavior of young people who do not have the right models.

Within this week, most of the parliamentary committees of the eighth legislature of the Assembly of Kosovo have been constituted, the division of which, according to Agnesa Haxhiu from the Democratic Institute of Kosovo (KDI), reflects the political power of LVV, which has led the most important.

Of the 14 committees currently in the Assembly, seven of them are chaired by VV.

“Based on the practices of previous legislatures in this legislature as well, the Presidency of the Assembly through a decision has decided that this legislature will also have 14 committees, a decision which has already been approved by the session. The division of committees has been done according to the defined formula that has been practiced in the previous legislatures and the division of committees and their composition reflects the political power that each parliamentary group has in the Assembly based on the results of the last elections “.

“In this case, LVV has the most commissions under its leadership, a total of 7 of them, and it has one of the most important commissions. They lead the standing committees like the one for Budget and the one for Legislation, but also other functional ones are more important like the one for Foreign Affairs, Health and Education ”.

Haxhiu says that since the position together with the non-majority communities is represented by seven members within the commissions, there will be no blockade in their work, as was the case in the previous legislature.

“The opposition has five commissions, while the non-majority community has one commission. Based on the political power of each parliamentary group, the LVV has five members in the commissions, which together with one member of the non-majority communities means that the ratio of 7 to 4 votes has already been created, which is enough votes to have no blockades as has happened in the work of the commissions of the previous legislatures, especially in the latter where it has been problematic to proceed with the issues in the session due to the lack of quorum in the commissions “, she added.

Haxhiu also spoke about the professional training that the deputies of these committees have, considering that there is a lack of expertise in some cases.

“Regarding the issue of the experience of the members in the committees, we must keep in mind that in almost every legislature there are about 3 or 4 professions or qualifications that dominate in the composition of the Assembly. The same happens in this legislature where we have about half of the deputies who belong to the qualifications as a lawyer, economist, doctor, and political scientist. “Normally there are areas that do not have coverage, they do not have an expert.”

“It happens that each commission has 11 members and not all those who are doctors come to settle in the health commission, and they should be placed in other commissions that are not experts in that field of action. For this reason, each commission has the opportunity and the budget to hire external experts and use the capacity of the Directorate for Parliamentary Research “, she said.

While Erblin Hoxha from the “FOL” Movement said in an interview for Ekonomia Online that this time as well, excluding LVV, the same members are in the same commissions.

“Regarding the number, this issue is regulated by law, where based on the political power that each political party has in the Assembly, the division of committees is done in that way, so 7 out of 14 committees or half of them belong to the Movement Self-determination due to the number of votes and MPs, so in this aspect we do not see a problem. “As for the composition, competencies of the participants or members, it is still too early to give an accurate assessment.”

“Most of these commissions, if we look at the previous composition, from parties other than the VV party, most of the same members are in the same commissions, only their position has changed, while some of the new members who have entered are still expected to see “an assessment made me more accurate of the work they do in the coming months”, he said.

Hoxha also said that actors are part of the parliament this time and this means that they do not have a profession that is directly involved in policy making.

Despite this, Hoxha says that since democracy has enabled them to represent the citizens in the Assembly, these deputies should give their contribution not only procedural.

“In this part, it is not only professionalism that matters, if we can call it that, because we have MPs who do not have a profession directly involved in policy-making, we also have actors, as we have seen in previous elections that are part of parliament, but this is democracy where everyone has the right to represent the citizen regardless of what profession he has “.

“Their contribution to the committee should not be merely procedural but more conceptual, therefore we expect from the deputies who are for the first time part of the committees that at least after thinking differently and with the market a creativity of its kind that in addition and drafting various laws to be more vocal within the commissions “, he concluded.

Little bug, big problems. For more than a hundred years, the bean weevil has been taking away a good part of the farmers’ earnings.

“Pierce the grain, leave the larva inside, eat the key part, destroy what germinates, so that the grain is unusable. Neither for food, because who will eat the bug, nor for sowing, because there is nothing to germinate,” explains Maja Babić from Grocke.

Mild winters are especially good for him, so it is recommended that the beans dry well and freeze for a few days, which will destroy the larvae in the infected grains.

The next concern is the warehouse. “Old beans must be taken out, cleaned and disinsected,” says professor Dušanka Jerinić Prodanović from the Faculty of Agriculture.

Insecticides are currently the only safe weapon, but not the option chosen by producers of organic and biologically valuable food.

“In recent years, considering that plant protection products have been used a lot, primarily because they are effective and pest control is much easier, they have suppressed all other measures,” said Lidija Matijevic from the Plant Protection Administration.

A team of scientists from the Biological Institute in Belgrade has begun examining the genetic weaknesses of male females. The idea is to reduce the possibility of reproduction.

“The method itself is not GMO, because we use weevils from natural populations, insecticides are not used, and a new one is profitable,” says Mirko Djordjevic from the Institute for Biological Research “Sinisa Stankovic”.

Gird yourself – is the slogan of this project. Scientists urge producers not to look at beans, but to send them infected samples.

POLITICIANS AGAINST SCIENTISTS White House blocks vaccine use guidelines, vaccine may now be available BEFORE ELECTIONS

The White House has blocked new guidelines from the Food and Drug Administration, on the marketing of potential vaccines against covid-19, which would almost certainly prevent their use before the presidential elections.

According to new guidelines from the US Food and Drug Administration, clinical trials of companies working on the development of covid-19 vaccines should take at least two months, in order to determine their safety before seeking approval for emergency use.

A senior official confirmed the move, which was first reported by the New York Times, and said that the White House believes that there is no “clinical or medical reason” for that additional request, reports AP.

This is the latest in a series of examples of undermining the efforts of health experts in the fight against the pandemic, due to which over 210,000 Americans have lost their lives so far.

The Food and Drug Administration has been trying for weeks to strengthen public confidence in the revision of the guidelines for potential vaccines.

The agency points out that scientists, not politicians, will determine whether vaccines are safe and effective for mass use.

However, President Donald Trump has repeatedly insisted that vaccines should be approved before the election, although top government scientists working on the administration’s efforts regarding the vaccine have said that such a thing is unlikely to happen.

The Food and Drug Administration notes that an urgent approval for the use of the vaccine could be issued before the end of the year.

The guidelines blocked by the White House are a series of non-binding documents that the Food and Drug Administration routinely uses to advise companies on research and regulatory standards for medical devices.
