It was a good opportunity to introduce the guests to the tourist assets of the city in the north of Banat and to exchange experiences in the economic activity that was most affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

After a break from 2013, the tourist organization of Kikinda was re-established this year and gained momentum in its work, in order to raise the tourist offer to a higher level. One of the ways for people to get better acquainted with the charms of the plain and famous destinations for sightseeing was the first “Tourist Encounters”.

– TO Vojvodina initiated the “Tourist Meetings” three years ago, and within the promo tour “Summer Pannonian Adventure”, Kikinda was also presented. By organizing Tourist Meetings, we will succeed in further improving the tourist offer of Vojvodina. The meetings will be held in eight more places in the province – said Natasa Pavlovic, director of the Tourist Organization of Vojvodina.

Although one of the economic activities most affected by the coronavirus pandemic, tourism in Vojvodina has successfully overcome the crisis of the previous year and a half. According to official statistics, in the first five months of this year, there was an increase in tourist arrivals in Vojvodina of almost 44 percent, and the number of overnight stays was 48 percent.

– That is an extremely important result. Vojvodina has a lot to offer, as official statistics show. I am proud that the results are encouraging, especially when it comes to domestic tourists.

Last year and this year, tourism managed to cope with the coronavirus pandemic. Vrdnik Spa recorded the largest increase in tourists of 88 percent, followed by Subotica and Lake Palić, Sombor and Novi Sad in May – 74 percent – Pavlović pointed out.

The internal statistics of the Info Center of TO Vojvodina show that tourists are interested in visiting other parts, and during the summer months, the most current are the beaches and spas.

– Spa tourism is on the rise and is in the lead in terms of visits by domestic and foreign tourists who have started coming. Tourists are also interested in some programs that offer places in Vojvodina. For example, “Mokrin house” recorded a large increase in tourists, and last year it was included in the regular program within the cross-border cooperation project implemented by TO Vojvodina with partners from Hungary – says Pavlović.

Better days for Serbian tourism

What factors will be crucial in the time that awaits us, how to set ourselves in further development, how to reach better solutions in tourism management, in which areas rapid changes will be needed – are just some of the questions that will occupy tourism workers for a long time. The answers to some questions are already self-evident, and investments have largely begun.

– The province has invested over 100 million dinars in raising the infrastructure in tourism on the territory of AP Vojvodina. It is obvious that it gives results, because we cannot talk about serious results in tourism, if we do not have serious capacities. The plan is that in the future, during each distribution of funds, we will invest significant funds in the development of tourist potentials.

In that way, we can compete with countries that have the sea. The idea is for the TO of Vojvodina to put an emphasis on weekends in the province. Also, the development of gastro, cyclo and hunting tourism will be our priority – said Dr. Nenad Ivanišević, Provincial Secretary for Economy and Tourism.

The director of the company “Millennium Team”, Stojan Vujko, said that Millennium will invest 90 million euros in that project, and that 350 jobs will be created.

He said that cooperation with one of the leading American companies would begin today, and that the signing of the agreement was a significant step in the development of economic relations between Serbia and the United States.

He emphasized that the contract for the Millennium is a big business step, which will show the ability and strength of that company for the hotel sector as well, since so far, as he says, it is known as a construction company.

He stated that the project of building a hotel complex in Vranjska Banja is important for the development of that area.

– We are sure that after this project, Serbia will be recognized as a destination of top spa tourism – said Vujko.

The director of the company “Millennium Resorts”, Ivan Bošnjak, said that the complex will have two hotels from the “Meriot” chain, as well as the medical center “Sofka”, and that spa apartments, villas and bungalows are planned.

Marriott International Regional Vice President for Europe Markus Lehnert pointed out that the project of building a hotel complex in Vranjska Banja is a very important step for their company, and that after the capital, they are expanding the chain inland.

– This project is a very important signal – said Lehnert.

He added that investors have confidence in the investment environment in Serbia.

Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and US Ambassador Anthony Godfrey also attended the signing of the agreement.

As she said, the occupancy of tourist mountain and spa places for the weekend is between 60 and 70 percent.

The interest is quite high for the weekend holidays, as well as for the upcoming summer season, she told Tanjug and added that rural tourism in Serbia is also expanding.

He says that according to the number of nights spent by domestic tourists, the most visited are Kopaonik, Zlatibor, Tara, Divčibare, Zlatar, Vrnjačka Banja, Sokobanja, Banja Vrdnik, Prolom, Lukovska Banja …

He also points out that many rural households are already reserved for the entire summer season, as well as that they are most interested in the surroundings of Ivanjica, Rudnik, the surroundings of Kragujevac …

He adds that even lesser-known destinations are now much more visited.

He cites Stara Planina as an example, which last year recorded a large increase in the number of arrivals and overnight stays in the summer and winter seasons.

Also, domestic tourists are increasingly looking for a vacation in nature, in lesser-known tourist places, added Labović.

Branislav’s father Sibin says that, before he left, he left an unusual message stuck in the door, from which it is not possible to conclude what his intentions are.

– The last time his mother saw him was between 1.30 pm and 2 pm, he was in the yard, doing the usual things. At one point, he was no more … She found only a piece of paper that said: “Watch out for the goats, I’m going to Banja to recover.”

We are afraid for him, we are a harmonious family, he had no reason to just leave. He had some health problems a long time ago, but he recovered and behaved quite normally in recent years.

We have no explanation for his actions or an idea of ​​where he might have been. That’s why we reported his disappearance to the police – said the worried man.

He says that he does not believe that Branislav really went where he wrote because he does not have enough money to pay for a longer leave of absence from home.

– I believe that there are no more than five, six thousand dinars. As far as I know, he didn’t take any luggage with him – states Sibin.

When he left home, Branislav was wearing a navy jacket, green pants and Pirot slippers.
