Many citizens from Mitrovica took to the streets to wait for the Special Unit as it returned from the North, after operating there for 12 days.

All this came after the Mayor of South Mitrovica, Agim Bahtiri, called on citizens to gather to wait for the police of the Kosovo Special Unit until they return from Jarinje and Brnjak.

A few moments ago, Kosovar police officers left the two border crossings, after the barricades and protesters were removed, reports Klankosova.tv.

Kosovo and Serbia have reached an agreement in Brussels on reciprocity for license plates.

This was announced by the EU Special Representative for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak.

Lajcak said the agreement was reached after two days of intense discussions between the two sides.

The agreement is expected to enter into force on Saturday 2 October 2021.

Under the agreement, Special Forces troops in the north will be replaced by KFOR troops.

The main points of this agreement are the following:

– On October 2, the Special Unit that is currently at the border crossings Jarinje and Brnjakë, will leave and at the same time the roadblocks will be removed, starting at 08:00, but not later than 16:00.

KFOR will be stationed in Jarinje and Brnjak, before the start of the synchronized withdrawal of Special Forces and barricades, and will stay there for approximately two weeks to provide a safe and secure environment, as well as to enable free movement.

– On October 4, at 08 o’clock in the morning, the temporary implementation of the poster system will begin, with which both Kosovo and Serbia will cover the state elements of each other’s license plates.

– A working group will be set up consisting of representatives of the EU, Belgrade and Pristina, led by the EU will be formed to find a final solution around the plates, based on EU standards and practices.

The first meeting of this group will be held on October 21, 2021 in Brussels.

Within six months of the first meeting, the working group will present the findings for the final solution to the highest level representatives in the Dialogue process. / Telegraphy /

The Minister of Defense, Armend Mehaj, has inspected the unit of the KSF Demining Company engaged in the demining operation in the area of ​​the village of Seçishtë of Hani i Elezit.

Mehaj was introduced to the mission, tasks, organizational structure, personnel, equipment, training, as well as joint local and international exercises and operations.

He praised the “sacred task in saving lives, the culminating results achieved so far, the high degree of professionalism and demonstrated skills of the members of the demining company.”

In the end, Meha assured that in the capacity of Minister of Defense, he will provide all the commitment, dedication and maximum support for the successful implementation of the unit plan within their demining operations and disposal of unexploded ordnance.

KSF demining operations, except in the village of Seçishtë, in the same period are being carried out in three other areas as in Babaj Bokës of Gjakova, Varosh and Lirisë Park of Ferizaj.

The U.S. military announced Sunday that it had closed a former secret prison unit at a Guantanamo Bay detention center as detainees were transferred to another facility at a U.S. base in Cuba.

The detainees in the so-called Camp 7 were transferred to a nearby facility and are now with other detainees at the base, the military said, but did not specify the number of detainees transferred.

U.S. officials said earlier that there were 14 men in that unit, while there are a total of 40 Guantanamo detainees.

Camp 7 opened in December 2006 for detainees previously held in secret units of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) where they underwent harsh interrogation techniques.

President Joseph Biden plans to close Guantanamo, but this will require congressional approval because of the relocation of some prisoners to the United States for trial or further serving of prison sentences.
