There is only one week left until the completion of the most talked about measure in the framework of the economic recovery. On April 6, the legal deadline for the withdrawal of 10 percent from the TRUST expires.
But most Kosovars have not quit this job at all. On the first day alone, December 11, 2020, more than half of the contributors had applied, thus blocking the system in the beginning.
And over 90 percent of applications were made in the first month. Now, without receiving the pension savings money, only 35 percent of them are left.
So far, 197 million euros have been withdrawn from the institution that maintains them.
This measure has been used more strongly by those who have more money in TRUST.
“Only 11 percent have withdrawn the balance up to 10 euros; 500 euros, over 90 percent; over 1 thousand euros, more than 97 percent “, explains Jeton Demi, spokesman for TRUST.
The 10 per cent withdrawal is part of the Law on Economic Recovery, voted in the Assembly during the Hoti Government, which sought to mitigate the economic damage caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
But according to economics lecturer at the University of Prishtina, Sead Ujkani, this has had a short-term effect.
“Most of them are used for consumption, probably without any real long-term effect. “And at the same time, most of them contributed to the time when it was distributed, which was the end of the year”, he says.
Ujkani considers that this law has also created social inequality and has not been comprehensive.
“It has also revealed an unfavorable situation for a part of the workers who have worked over the years with informal contracts, such have not enjoyed this right”, adds Ujkani.
Those who have issued or will withdraw less than one thousand euros from 10 percent, will be reimbursed by the state./klankosova
