Decision of the Constitutional Court, Tinka Kurti: Victory of the individual against the discriminatory system – Latest News
The member of the Assembly of Kosovo from the Vetëvendosje Movement, Tinka Kurti, called the victory of the individual against the discriminatory system, her case when the Constitutional Court gave her the right and Drita Millaku regarding their request to join of the seventh legislature of the Assembly of Kosovo as deputies who were to replace the deputies who had become ministers last year.
“After a year of the request, the Constitutional Court has decided in my favor for the mandate of deputy for the elections of October 6, 2019. The mandate has been denied to me on the basis of gender. The same goes for Drita Millaku. “According to the decision, the Constitution has been violated in 4 articles and international conventions as well.”
“This war has not been easy and it does not end here. A mandate is nothing compared to the principle we must establish. Time does not go backwards, the institutionally denied mandate is not reversed but we must move forward with time. Article 28 of the Law on Elections for the Replacement of Deputies is not the only discriminatory one. We have to work in many directions “, Kurti wrote on the social network Facebook.
