Palestine begs Serbia and other friendly countries not to relocate embassies in Jerusalem – Latest News
The Palestinian ambassador to Belgrade, Mohammed Nabhan, said today that his country expects all friendly countries, including Serbia, not to relocate embassies and not to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
“We are against the relocation of the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem because Jerusalem is an occupied city.… We do not recognize Kosovo because of UNSC Resolution 1244 and the position of Serbia and we ask all our friends to respect Resolution 478 of “The UN regarding Jerusalem, which asks all countries not to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel”, said Nabhan on the Serbian television “Prva”, reports Zeri.info.
He added that the relocation of the embassy in Jerusalem would affect Palestinian relations with countries that decide to take such a step.
Recall that in September 2020, through an agreement on the normalization of economic relations between Kosovo and Serbia signed at the White House in Washington, Serbia has agreed to move its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem until July 1, 2021.
Kosovo had also agreed to open its embassy in Jerusalem, after recognition by Israel. On March 14 this year, Kosovo announced that it had officially opened its embassy in Jerusalem. / Voice
