The candidate of the New Kosovo Alliance for mayor of Prishtina, Gëzim Mehmeti says that he has received strong support in Barilevo, where he has promised to build new bridges, sports fields, reorganize the cemetery and establish lines of new public transport based on residents’ requests.

Mehmeti wrote on the social network Facebook that Barileva is known for its traditions, educated people and hard workers in many fields, especially in the agricultural sector, for which she promised to allocate 6 million euros annual budget.

Mehmeti also said that media polls are commissioned.

“Every day more and more we see that the polls in our media are commissioned, a well-known practice as happened in 2017 where AKR in Pristina denied everything as it will do even more strongly this time. “The work we have done for almost 4 years, no one has done in the past 17 years”, said Mehmeti.

Russians are voting Sunday on the final day of three days of parliamentary elections, accompanied by accusations of widespread irregularities and the crackdown on imprisoned opposition politician Alexey Navalny. The ruling party, United Russia, is expected to win parliamentary elections, as authorities eliminated vocal critics and suppressed independent media.

Russians continued voting Sunday in various ways on the final day of the country’s three-day parliamentary election.

Employees of a hospital in the city of Nizhny Novgorod were able to vote in the workplace. Grigory Vlasov is the head of the radiation therapy department.

“Doctors and nurses often work day and night or until late in the evening. They do not always have the opportunity to go to a polling station. “We have created this opportunity to vote quickly and in comfortable conditions without interrupting the work process.”

At a polling station in Yekaterinburg voters were also able to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

The election is widely seen as an important part of President Vladimir Putin’s efforts to strengthen control ahead of the 2024 presidential election, in which control of the Duma, or parliament, will be key.

Although polls show support for Mr Putin’s United Russia party, the ruling party is expected to secure a landslide victory.

Kurti criticizes local media in meeting with Southeast European News Agency Network

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti received a delegation of the Southeast European News Agency Network (ABNA) with whom he discussed the Government’s priorities, the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic and the role of the media in the objective coverage of the pandemic reality.

In this meeting, Kurti spoke about the current situation with the COVID-19 pandemic and the measures taken by the government to alleviate the consequences of the pandemic.

He said that “so far Kosovo has administered over one million doses of anti-COVID vaccine and this adds to the hope for easier coping with the risk of new waves of announced spread of the virus”.

The Prime Minister also informed the representatives of the news agencies about the legal actions taken by the Government to fight corruption. He said that “thankfully corruption in Kosovo is not a culture, but it is an established system in institutions, and as such it is more likely to be fought”.

Regarding the state of the media in Kosovo, Prime Minister Kurti said that “it is not the best, but it is not too bad”, it is said in the announcement from the Government.

He said that the media in general have contributed to informing the public about the epidemiological situation. But, he continued, “there have also been media outlets that have often undermined pandemic management efforts, reporting unverified news and misinformation, even launched by opposition MPs.”

The statement said that representatives of the Southeast European News Agency network thanked the Prime Minister for the welcome and informed him about ABNA’s work and media challenges during and after the pandemic.

We recall that the network of Southeast European News Agencies has recently held the annual conference in Kosovo with the central theme “Media and tourism in the post-pandemic era.” / Voice

Latest news from the sport

When the signing of Lionel Messi’s new contract with Barcelona was expected, it is already reported that things have changed, writes Zeri.info.

“Marca” reported a little while ago that Lionel Messi is now far from renewal and that the president, Joan Laporta, knows the situation.

Today (Thursday) the leaders of the Catalan club met with the Argentine striker and his representatives, while the formalization of the continuation of the cooperation was expected.

However, the Spanish media have reported that the meeting did not go well and that there were tensions, while “Marca” wrote with special emphasis that “Leo Messi has never been further away from the renewal with Barcelona than today”.

Whereas, “RAC1” writes that the situation already created can be considered irreversible. According to this Catalan medium, Messi has informed the club officials that he does not like the team with the current footballers.

The 34-year-old is also said to have disliked the club’s plan for the future.

The only salvation for Barcelona and the renewal of the six-time contract of the winner of the “Golden Ball” is said to be the salary, if the Argentine agrees to have a reduction, given the financial crisis that has hit the club.

It remains to be seen how things will turn out and whether Messi will be sacrificed again for his only club that has played in his career as a professional footballer.

Prosecution launches investigations into abuse of position against apostrophized persons in media recordings

Sources of “Oath of Justice” within the Basic Prosecution in Prishtina, have confirmed that they have authorized the start of investigations into the recordings published last week in the online media, on suspicions of abuse of position by senior officials of the system justice and independent agencies.

“Investigative actions will be taken against all persons apostrophized in the recordings published these days in the online media”, sources within the prosecution have announced.

Last Friday, July 30, 2021, the online media “Shqip.com” published several recordings, which according to the report, include several senior officials, among whom, the prosecutor of the Department of Serious Crimes in Prishtina, Shemsie Asllani.

According to this report, prosecutor Asllani is heard talking to a person (who does not become known to the public), about her influence and the help she had given to a person to become a judge. “Someone begged me to help him become a judge, and he had a reputation and he told me I need your help and I told him I can help him because he is my official, collaborator”, is quoted from the recordings by the prosecutor Asllani.

Prosecutor Asllani even talks about her influence within the Kosovo Intelligence Agency. ” What did you have them? And where is he connecting you? “Immediately he cares if they made you… immediately to KIA when he told me to talk, I spoke to KIA, I have friends and I have people who guard me…”, Asllani is quoted.

These and other statements of the prosecutor Shemsie Asllani are heard in these recordings during a telephone conversation she has with a person, who is reported by “Shqip.com” that he has information about her. According to the report, it turns out that the person who called him tells prosecutor Asllani that a car was unjustly confiscated from him and asks her to help him get it out.

Among other things, in these recordings, the Chief State Prosecutor, Aleksandër Lumezi, is mentioned, where according to the report, it turns out that he was in the house of the prosecutor Shemsie Asllani with some other persons, for whom there are photos and recordings. Chief Prosecutor Lumezi in the conversation is referred to as Leka.

In these recordings is also mentioned the member of the Judicial Council, Driton Muharremi and the Director of the Financial Intelligence Unit, Dardan Nuhiu.

Regarding these investigative actions authorized for these persons, “Oath of Justice” has tried to talk by phone with the Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution in Pristina, Kujtim Munishi, but he has not responded. Meanwhile, the spokesperson of this Prosecution, Laureta Ulaj, contacted by phone said that she has no knowledge about the actions taken in this case.

“Oath for Justice” has requested answers through requests for information via e-mail from Chief Prosecutor Munishi and spokeswoman Ulaj, but they have not responded.

Meanwhile, Minister Hekuran Murati through the social network “facebook” has announced that after these published recordings, the Director of Financial Intelligence, Dardan Nuhiu, has been fired. “After reviewing the audio recordings published in the media yesterday and today, which implicate the Director of the Financial Intelligence Unit, the Supervisory Board, in the meeting held today, decided to dismiss him with immediate effect”, it is said in Murat’s post .

Workshop on the judiciary and the media in Serbia

What role do the media play in strengthening the independence and accountability of the judiciary and the importance of their cooperation – these questions were the focus of the workshop organized as part of the joint action European Union / Council of Europe “Strengthening independence and accountability” in the judiciary “.

Judge Jasmina Vasović, President of the Supreme Court of Cassation and Head of the Office of the Council of Europe in Belgrade, Tobias Flessenkemper, discussed these relevant issues with the members of the High Judicial Council.

“The judiciary and media can work well together and the judiciary in Serbia has taken the first steps towards greater transparency with the appointment of court spokespersons in Serbia,” said Judge Vasović.

Tobias Flessenkemper stressed that judicial authorities across continent have had a complex relationship with the media over the years. “Judgments do not speak for themselves and so it is up to the judiciary to speak up, explain their work and provide quality information about the process and how the judicial system operates,” he said.

The discussion took place during the workshop for members of the High Judiciary Council, which aimed to improve the members of the council in dealing with the media and to better communicate to the citizens of Serbia about the work of the judiciary.

The workshop was organized as part of the action “Strengthening the independence and accountability of the judiciary”, which is part of the joint program of the European Union and the Council of Europe “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022”.

The European final between England and Italy will be the last match that Dritan Shakohoxha will comment on.

This decision was confirmed by Shako himself yesterday, as he was commenting from Wembley on the Anglo-Danish challenge.

At the age of 52, after a full 30 years of career, Shakohoxha decided to make this difficult decision, as now his focus will be elsewhere.

A strong reason seems to have “forced” the well-known journalist to give up what Shako has described as the great love of his life.

“Panorama Sport” learns that he will run in the next elections for president of the AFF, thus challenging the current leader Armand Duka.

It is worth mentioning the fact that the elections for president of the ALF will take place next year.
