The United States will join the United Nations (UN) Group of Friends in eliminating violence against women and girls, as “when women are more successful, countries are more successful,” the US ambassador said today. at the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield.

“The United States and the administration of Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are deeply concerned about gender equality and the independence of women and girls in the world,” the diplomat told Klan Kosova.

She spoke at an informal meeting of the United Nations Security Council on women’s participation in peace processes organized on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

“We believe that when women get hired and countries do better,” said Linda Thomas-Greenfield.

The UN group, to which the United States will join, is an informal body established last year, bringing together several countries that share similar views on women’s rights.

Under the administration of Republican Donald Trump, the United States has consistently opposed its traditional allies on women, particularly by vetoing a German text proposal on sexual and reproductive rights in war situations.

Linda Thomas-Greenfield also announced that Kamala Harris will deliver a speech on March 16 at the 65th Committee on the Status of Women, demonstrating the importance that democratic administration attaches to the topic.

This event mobilizes thousands of women every year at the UN, writes kp. As in 2020, this year will be practically held due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The United States is returning to the United Nations. “We strongly support the Women, Peace and Security Program at the United Nations,” said the US Ambassador.
