In the city of Vushtrri every Friday in the city market you can meet Mrs. Duda.
Mrs. Duda is a 76-year-old woman from the city of Vushtrri, who has 52 years of work experience. But her experience had started earlier, embroidering various outfits in the village. Ms. Duda has a great love for handicrafts and despite the challenges she faced she did not stop working them.
Now, as Mrs. Duda explains, in Kosovo or respectively in Vushtrri, the interest in national costumes has decreased, because there are many different, newer and more modern models.
Mrs. Duda’s special work has left an impression on countries outside Kosovo, because her work is a work made with love. The work done by the 76-year-old from Vushtrri is supported by her whole family.
She has often been advised by her family to quit her job and leave, but for Ms. Duda this is unacceptable: “Just like a man can not live without tobacco, I can not live without handicrafts,” she said.
