This year, the young javelin thrower defended the title of world champion in javelin throwing in the under-20 competition, won silver at the senior European championship and took 11th place in the world’s best results in the under-20 age group.
“This is a great recognition for me. I am very happy and honored to have been chosen as the “Young Star in Spon” of World Athletics. The year was very successful for me and this title is the crowning of everything and gives me wings to train even more and to I will be even better,” said the young athlete at the ceremony.
Nominated were Kenyan athletes in the 3,000-meter steeplechase – Faith Cherotich and Jacqueline Chepkoech, South African Min De Klerk in the shot put and discus, as well as Jamaican Kerika Hill in the 100-meter hurdles.
