The death toll from the blast outside Kabul Airport rose sharply on Friday, with up to 170 people reported killed and at least 200 injured.
However, a day after the attack, crowds on Friday again sought to reach the airport, writes NYT, reports Klankosova.tv.
Hospital officials, who requested anonymity because the Taliban had told them not to speak to the media, said some of the dead civilians were Afghan-Americans with US citizenship.
Revised estimates make Thursday’s attack one of the deadliest in nearly two decades since the US-led invasion.
The gruesome scenes Thursday, when children were among those killed in the crowd, illustrated the intense danger to those who dare take the high-risk trip to the airport.
