The situation in Afghanistan is chaotic. An American veteran has estimated about 44,000 Afghans who helped Washington during the 20-year conflict are out of Kabul and are already seeking urgent evacuation.
“This is a catastrophe of epic proportions,” he said, warning that Afghans who aided the US military were now expected to be pursued and systematically killed by the Taliban.
A spokesman for No One Left Behind, a charity helping Afghans settle in the United States, said President Joe Biden should order US troops to secure Kabul airport.
“The Americans need to open a safe corridor in order to start evacuating our allies from Afghanistan, not just from Kabul, but from every city where they live.”
Meanwhile, thousands of people have been left out of Kabul and other cities. Public executions are taking place in Kandahar. However, women were reportedly told not to leave their homes in Herat.
