Moderate air quality in the capital is reported on meters by the US Embassy in Pristina.
The air index is 55 and according to this index there is no danger for vulnerable groups of the population affected by chronic diseases or other diseases.
However, for some pollutants there may be a health concern for a very small number of people who are extremely sensitive to air pollution.
Kosovo Hydrometeorological Institute (KHMI) monitors air quality throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo, through the State Network for Air Quality Monitoring.
This network consists of 12 fixed automatic stations and a mobile automatic station.
The distribution of stations and the selection of monitoring locations was done in accordance with the criteria of Directive 2008/50 / EU on clean air in Europe and local laws.
Based on the above criteria, the stations are distributed in 9 (nine) municipalities of the Republic of Kosovo: Prishtina, Obiliq, Drenas, Mitrovica, Peja, Prizren, Shtërpcë (Brezovica), Hani i Elezit and Gjilan.
