The solemn inauguration of the Kosovo pavilion at the 17th International Architecture Exhibition at the Venice Biennale took place today.
In this edition, Kosovo is represented by the well-known artist and architect Maksut Vezgishi, with the project “Contein temporary”, conceived and curated based on the general theme of the Biennale “How will we live together”.
According to the author of the work, ‘CONTAINER’ is a large open ‘object’, intended for loading various ‘CONTENTS’.
“It has an extraordinary shape, function and design. It is located in every municipality. Around this container the landscape of buildings built to be eternal remains open. Specifications that offer ‘NEW OPPORTUNITIES’ of use, spaces for experimentation, socialization, reflection , activism, hope, new ideas, fantasies and goals… “, said Vezgishi.
Further, the curator and author of the exhibition, emphasizes the naming of the installation entitled “Container”, dividing it into the phrase “container” and “contemporary” with allusion to the contemporary everyday.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hajrulla Çeku, accompanied by the Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure, Liburn Aliu, and the Ambassador of Kosovo in Rome, Lendita Haxhitasim.
They praised the dignified representation of Kosovo in the international cultural scene and stressed that “the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo remain committed to supporting the work of artists in promoting Kosovar culture and art globally.”
Kosovo Pavilion for the public will remain open from May 22, 2021 until November 21, 2021./Zeri
