In an effort to return to normalcy, Singapore could become the first country in the world to stop registering Covid-19 cases.
The state of Southeast Asia has registered only 36 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic, implementing strict enough measures to curb the spread of the infection rate, while now officials aim to remove the daily count of coronavirus cases.
The proposal was made by the three main members of the Singapore Pandemic Committee to end 18 months with strict restrictions. So far, Singapore has registered 62617 cases of coronavirus.
“The aim is to let people go on with their lives by removing strict rules and instead control the virus through other means, such as mass vaccination. “Instead of counting the cases every day, we will focus on the results,” a joint statement from the three officials said. / A2
