Today, the Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu received the Ambassador, the Head of the OSCE Mission, Michael Davenport.
Minister Haxhiu informed Ambassador Davenport about the priority and commitment of the Ministry of Justice, starting from the commitment to the fight against organized crime and corruption which has started building the legal infrastructure to strengthen it.
Haxhiu also informed about the concept document voted in the Government, which is only the first step towards drafting a new law on confiscation of illegal and unjustifiable property, informing at the same time more about its content.
A press release from the MoJ states that in this meeting they also talked about domestic violence, which as a concern of citizens and institutions, has begun to be treated as a special priority, expressing commitment to establish a secretariat as a support mechanism for the office National Coordinator for Protection from Domestic Violence.
Among other things, the OSCE delegation was further briefed on the Code of Criminal Procedure and the Functional Review.
Special attention was paid to the topic of addressing war crimes.
Haxhiu also in this meeting expressed the readiness that the justice system should address the problems and issues of non-majority communities, especially those of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians. She expressed the interest for the institutions to be as close as possible to the citizens of the Republic, inevitably including other communities.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Davenport expressed his willingness to support them separately in the priorities set and also in general in the challenges that await the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, respectively the Ministry of Justice, expressing the conviction that together the achieved goals will be achieved. to mark a greater progress in the development of the state, the institutions of the Republic, ie the benefit of all its citizens, without distinction./Zeri
