Israel has not registered any deaths from Covid-19 for the first time in ten months, as the country continues its mass vaccination program, which is considered one of the most successful in the world.
The Ministry of Health showed that the death toll from the coronavirus pandemic remained unchanged – 6,346, writes BBC, reports Gazeta Express.
The last time Israel did not record any casualties of Covid-19 for 24 hours was in June last year, as strict isolation measures had prevented the development of the first wave of infections.
However, the gene has improved after reaching the peak of cases in January this year. The Israeli government has been easing restrictions since February, following the start of a wider vaccination campaign.
Israel has the highest rate of population vaccination per capita in the world. On Thursday, the state reached the figure of five million people vaccinated.
The Ministry of Health said that over 53 percent of the population of about nine million people have already received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.
“This is an extraordinary achievement for the Israeli health system and its citizens. “Together we are eradicating the coronavirus,” Israeli Health Minister Yuli Edelstein wrote on social media on Friday.
