The Minister of Education, Arbërie Nagavci, during her report to the Commission for Human Rights, was also asked about the cases of banning headscarves in schools.
PDK MP, Ariana Musliu-Shoshi, has raised the issue of headscarves in schools, while asking Minister Nagavci about whether there is official data on how many girls have been denied education due to wearing headscarves.
“I consider that the headscarf is not considered a religious uniform and is a violation of human rights. “Such a thing is allowed by the Constitution and is not even prohibited by the Law on Education”, said Musliu-Shoshi.
Nagavci responded, mentioning that the constitutional basis is quite clear and well defined in relation to the topic raised by the PDK MP.
She said that they do not officially have statistics on whether any student has been denied schooling due to the cover.
“As far as we are informed, we do not have any official data that the right to education has been denied, but there are some cases when children have not attended school. “For us, it is very important that all children are guaranteed the right to education”, said Nagavci. / Voice
