President Meta requests from the Prosecution the verification of the 16 ministers proposed by Rama – Latest News
Shortly after Prime Minister Edi Rama forwarded the names for the formation of the new government, President Ilir Meta asked the General Prosecutor’s Office for information on the 16 proposed ministers.
The letter addressed to the Prosecution is dated September 11, the day when Rama sent the names of his government cabinet to the Presidency for decree.
For the names proposed for the cabinet “Rama 3”, Meta requests verification if there is data from the prosecution regarding investigative or criminal processes that have begun or are under evaluation.
The President requests from the Prosecution to be informed without compromising the investigative secrecy of the candidates for ministers who may be under investigation within September 18, when there is a deadline for their decree.
Following the formation of the new Parliament, President Meta mandated Rama to form the new government as chairman of the party that won the June 25th parliamentary elections.
If the names proposed by Rama will be decreed by Meta, then it will be the Parliament that will have the last word by vote. Where together with the ministers will vote the new prime minister.
At the beginning of 2019, in the second term of the SP, President Meta rejected the proposal of Gent Cakaj to be appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs. According to Meta, Cakaj did not meet the conditions to be a minister./euronews.al
