Serbia – Kosovo – France regrets the lack of an agreement between Serbia and Kosovo (21 Nov. 2022)

France regrets the lack of an agreement between Serbia and Kosovo following the November 21st meeting in Brussels under the auspices of the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.

We join in the EU’s calls to avoid taking any unilateral actions that are liable to exacerbate tensions. We urge the two parties, and particularly Kosovo, to accept the compromise proposal formulated by the EU.

France fully supports the European mediation effort which must facilitate progress toward a comprehensive, legally binding agreement between Serbia and Kosovo and enhance the two countries’ European prospects. We strongly urge the parties to continue their discussions in the coming days in a spirit of compromise and to implement the agreements that have already been reached, including the provisions relating to the Association/Community of Serb-Majority Municipalities.

Citaku says Kosovo is sending signals of cooling of relations in many countries with the lack of ambassadors

PDK Deputy Chairman Vlora Çitaku has criticized the government for delays in appointing new ambassadors to many countries.

According to Çitaku, the withdrawal of ambassadors in this way, as the Kosovo Ministry of Foreign Affairs has done, sends bad signals to other countries.

“This is one of the moments when we have seen abstention in government, it has been known since February that ambassadors should be appointed, in fact it has been more than three months since ambassadors were fired from world capitals. We have been without an ambassador in London for three years now. “In diplomacy, these are signals, when you do not send ambassadors, you demonstrate the cooling of relations, the other act is the termination of diplomatic relations”, said Çitkau on Radio Prishtina, Zeri.info reports.

The former ambassador to the US said that many countries understand the lack of ambassadors, as they know that the problems with not appointing them are internal.

She added that as a former ambassador, she would offer full cooperation to the future ambassador or ambassador to the US.

“Fortunately, they know us and know that it was not done on purpose and has nothing to do with them, but more with us. This shows extreme irresponsibility. “I hope that as soon as the new ambassadors are selected, I will offer the full cooperation to the ambassador or the ambassador in Washington immediately”, added Çitaku./Zëri

Residents complain about the lack of water in Veternik

Residents of a residential complex in Veternik have been forced to buy drinking water for almost three years now, as they cannot use it from the water supply.

“We have a constant shortage of water, this started almost regularly three years ago. Even during the time of the pandemic it has continued, it is continuing even now. That is, we do not have more than we have water “, said a resident of this complex.

He added that they suspected that this lack of water was happening due to the swimming pools owned by the hotel which is located near this complex.

The manager of the hotel, Lavdim Grajqevci, on the other hand, not wanting to speak in front of the cameras, denied that the pool water is related to the supply of the residents of the residential complex. He said the hotel has its source of water from the well.

And for this issue, today the Prishtina Water Supply and the inspectorate came out and closely monitored the problem.

The Director of the Inspection, Adonis Tahiri, confirmed that the hotel pools are not the cause of the water supply problem for the residents of this neighborhood.

The problem, according to Tahiri, lies in the supply network as many apartments have been built in that part and the pipe is old and fails to supply.

Regional Water Supply “Prishtina” offered a solution to residents. The spokesperson of this company, Arjeta Mjeku, emphasized that they are doing this out of good will, because it is not their responsibility.

“We proposed a solution for the residents to be separated from the joint connection of the hotel building and to be connected to the main supply pipe from RWC” Prishtina “, at no additional cost to residents.”

Now the residents of this residential complex have to decide whether to accept the solution offered by the water supply.

A court in India on Tuesday said the deaths of Covid-19 patients due to lack of oxygen were a “criminal act and no less than a genocide”, according to a trial posted on the court’s website.

The Allahabad Supreme Court, which has jurisdiction over India’s most populous state in Uttar Pradesh, said: by those entrusted with the task of ensuring the ongoing procurement and supply chain of liquid medical oxygen ”.

Uttar Pradesh is among the states hardest hit in India’s second deadliest wave of pandemic.

In a strong criticism of the Uttar Pradesh government’s handling of the crisis, the state high court cited videos showing piles of oxygen cylinders and poor people begging for an oxygen cylinder.

“We find this news to show a completely opposite picture to that claimed by the (state) government that there was a sufficient supply of oxygen,” the court said.

The court noted two specific stories of Covid-19 patients suspected of dying from a lack of oxygen in the cities of Meerut and Lucknow and appealed to the state government to take “immediate remedial action” and ordered an investigation into both cases, writes A2.

The state government will not yet formally respond to the trial.

The court also noted that the Covid-19 protocol and guidelines could have been rejected during the counting of votes in the recent local elections and ordered election authorities to provide counting centers.

Without an audience, I seem to lack half of the artist's identity

On the eve of the upcoming concert in the Botanical Garden in Belgrade, scheduled for May 16, maestro Stefan Milenković talked with RTS journalist Andjela Savić about the upcoming concert and the program of the violin master class he will hold during the summer in Čačak.

You are also the creative ambassador of the platform Serbia creates, what do you plan to do?

– Is there a simpler question? First of all, I have always had one constant in my work and creation and career, so I plan to continue at that pace and at that pace. And, of course, to focus primarily on our students and classical music here in Serbia, and the promotion of that classical music and our stage as much as possible outside Serbia.

You designed a violin camp, with what idea and who can participate?

– It will be an intensive violin course that contains everything that a traditional violin master class contains, but also contains some other things. These are, for example, physical exercises, some psychological tricks to reduce anxiety. And, of course, those theoretical classes, which I will also teach, and which have various topics. They are all about not only playing the violin, but also how to be a musician, what it means to live in the business world of music today, how to find your place.

You perform from the earliest childhood, how important are those experiences for working with children and how different are children now?

– On the one hand, they are different because they grow up in a world, primarily of technology, which is much richer today than when I was little, for example. What is the same is that those who are focused, who are talented, who have a passion for learning, who have a passion for music, have a certain profile, have a certain environment that helps them that supports them. So it was always the same.

Are you performing on May 16 in Belgrade?

– Yes, yes, in the Botanical Garden at 5 pm with the chamber orchestra ‘Muzikon’ from Belgrade and I will play Astor Piazzolla’s Four Seasons, because this is Piazzolla’s anniversary this year. It will be wonderful. We are all looking forward to it, because live concerts and audiences are slowly returning. Because without us being exposed to the audience and doing it for the audience, it’s really like you’re missing half the person, half the identity of the artist.

Within this week, most of the parliamentary committees of the eighth legislature of the Assembly of Kosovo have been constituted, the division of which, according to Agnesa Haxhiu from the Democratic Institute of Kosovo (KDI), reflects the political power of LVV, which has led the most important.

Of the 14 committees currently in the Assembly, seven of them are chaired by VV.

“Based on the practices of previous legislatures in this legislature as well, the Presidency of the Assembly through a decision has decided that this legislature will also have 14 committees, a decision which has already been approved by the session. The division of committees has been done according to the defined formula that has been practiced in the previous legislatures and the division of committees and their composition reflects the political power that each parliamentary group has in the Assembly based on the results of the last elections “.

“In this case, LVV has the most commissions under its leadership, a total of 7 of them, and it has one of the most important commissions. They lead the standing committees like the one for Budget and the one for Legislation, but also other functional ones are more important like the one for Foreign Affairs, Health and Education ”.

Haxhiu says that since the position together with the non-majority communities is represented by seven members within the commissions, there will be no blockade in their work, as was the case in the previous legislature.

“The opposition has five commissions, while the non-majority community has one commission. Based on the political power of each parliamentary group, the LVV has five members in the commissions, which together with one member of the non-majority communities means that the ratio of 7 to 4 votes has already been created, which is enough votes to have no blockades as has happened in the work of the commissions of the previous legislatures, especially in the latter where it has been problematic to proceed with the issues in the session due to the lack of quorum in the commissions “, she added.

Haxhiu also spoke about the professional training that the deputies of these committees have, considering that there is a lack of expertise in some cases.

“Regarding the issue of the experience of the members in the committees, we must keep in mind that in almost every legislature there are about 3 or 4 professions or qualifications that dominate in the composition of the Assembly. The same happens in this legislature where we have about half of the deputies who belong to the qualifications as a lawyer, economist, doctor, and political scientist. “Normally there are areas that do not have coverage, they do not have an expert.”

“It happens that each commission has 11 members and not all those who are doctors come to settle in the health commission, and they should be placed in other commissions that are not experts in that field of action. For this reason, each commission has the opportunity and the budget to hire external experts and use the capacity of the Directorate for Parliamentary Research “, she said.

While Erblin Hoxha from the “FOL” Movement said in an interview for Ekonomia Online that this time as well, excluding LVV, the same members are in the same commissions.

“Regarding the number, this issue is regulated by law, where based on the political power that each political party has in the Assembly, the division of committees is done in that way, so 7 out of 14 committees or half of them belong to the Movement Self-determination due to the number of votes and MPs, so in this aspect we do not see a problem. “As for the composition, competencies of the participants or members, it is still too early to give an accurate assessment.”

“Most of these commissions, if we look at the previous composition, from parties other than the VV party, most of the same members are in the same commissions, only their position has changed, while some of the new members who have entered are still expected to see “an assessment made me more accurate of the work they do in the coming months”, he said.

Hoxha also said that actors are part of the parliament this time and this means that they do not have a profession that is directly involved in policy making.

Despite this, Hoxha says that since democracy has enabled them to represent the citizens in the Assembly, these deputies should give their contribution not only procedural.

“In this part, it is not only professionalism that matters, if we can call it that, because we have MPs who do not have a profession directly involved in policy-making, we also have actors, as we have seen in previous elections that are part of parliament, but this is democracy where everyone has the right to represent the citizen regardless of what profession he has “.

“Their contribution to the committee should not be merely procedural but more conceptual, therefore we expect from the deputies who are for the first time part of the committees that at least after thinking differently and with the market a creativity of its kind that in addition and drafting various laws to be more vocal within the commissions “, he concluded.

Illegal taxis take advantage of the lack of buses, take 5 euros from passengers on the route Prishtina - Gjilan

Intercity buses have been closed since Wednesday, due to non-subsidization by the Government due to the losses they suffered during the pandemic.

And for this, citizens these days have been forced to travel by illegal taxis, but the latter have taken advantage of the situation created by buses, raising their prices.

A.SH, a citizen who traveled from Prishtina to Gjilan says for Telegraf that for a ticket in this relation that usually costs 2 euros today she paid 5 euros.

“From 2 euros as the price is on ordinary days, today we paid 5 euros to go from Prishtina to Gjilan”, she says for Telegraf.

Meanwhile, the president of the Transporters Association, Ruzhdi Kurishaj in a statement given to the Telegraph said that there will be no road transport in the coming days.

“Without the implementation of the payment issue, there is no going back, until there is no implementation of the agreement by the Government, there is no road transport. When the Government makes a decision and starts making payments then we are fine. “The protest continues,” he said.

Otherwise, the Association of Transporters today in protest of non-subsidization by the Government in the form of a protest has passed by buses in the capital, while the stop was made in front of the Government building.

The strike of the Passenger Transport Association, who decided to stop the circulation of buses, started on Wednesday.
