29 people were sentenced to death in the Democratic Republic of Congo in connection with the violence that erupted in the capital Kinshasa during Eid celebrations.
One police officer was killed and dozens more were injured in clashes between rival Muslim groups during the holy month of Ramadan.
They had gathered to mark the end of the month of Ramadan, but did not agree on who should lead the ceremony.
The death penalty is no longer applied in the Congo so all convicts will serve life sentences. / A2
