There are no signs that Serbia has stopped the campaign to secure recognition from countries that have already recognized Kosovo, say officials from the Kosovo Government’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora.
These statements of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of Kosovo come after the statements of the Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic, who claims that there are states that are ready to withdraw the recognition of Kosovo.
Professor of International Law, Afrim Hoti, emphasizes that threatening statements by the Serbian authorities come on the eve of the continuation of the dialogue with Kosovo and are intended to undermine this process. But, according to him, Kosovo diplomacy does not have a clear strategy to block Serbia’s efforts to secure the claims claimed by certain countries.
According to the commitments signed at the White House in Washington, on September 4, 2020, Kosovo has assumed the obligation not to apply for membership in international organizations within a year, while for the same period of time, Serbia has undertaken to stop the campaign for the withdrawal of Kosovo recognitions.
