Citizens are supplied with insulin, the municipality of Prishtina was forced to enter into a contract with its own funds
A large number of citizens on Wednesday waited in line to be supplied with insulin at the Family Medicine Center in Pristina.
The Director of Health in the municipality of Prishtina, Bujar Gashi, said that as a result of the lack of insulin supply from the pharmaceutical department and the central level, they were forced to enter into their own contracts with municipal funds to provide insulin to the citizens of the capital.
Further, he said they have provided a significant amount of insulin that will be available for the next 5 months.
“This contract is as a result of numerous requests and complaints that citizens had for months. As a result of the lack of insulin supply due to supply problems from the pharmaceutical department and the central level we had to realize an own contract with our municipal funds to provide insulin for the citizens of the capital.
“We have provided a quantity that based on planning will be available for the next 5 months. We hope that in these 5 months the central level will have these two types of insulin available on the essential list. There is enough insulin for the inhabitants of the capital of Prishtina because the medicines that we provide based on the system we have are provided for the inhabitants of the capital and we can not supply the inhabitants of other municipalities because the medicines are provided with own funds of the municipality while the central level supplies all municipalities ”.
“Now we are supplied with all where some of them have been on the essential list and we are supplied from the central level and insulin from today is available to residents of the capital. We have been calling since yesterday not to cause a commotion. Those who have reservations wait until the next day. “Those who are without insulin should come and get it because there will be enough insulin for the next 5 months and no one will be left without insulin”, said Gashi.
Citizens complained about the lack of insulin for a long time. Rrahman Beqiri said that it is the fifth month that he did not have dinsulin.
“This is the fifth month that he has had neither drugs nor insulin. Today we took them while there was no aspirin. 7 euros a week is a lot with a small pension. The main drugs such as aspirin are missing.
Whereas, Shadije Rexhepi said that I had to buy 80 euros of insulin.
“It has not been removed for two months. I have to buy 80 euros of insulin because my mother has insulin. There have been no private pharmacies before. “Otherwise, it does not work without insulin”, said Rexhepi.
QAzem Geci emphasized that the costs are very high to buy insulin, where only for a quantity you need 4 euros.
“We have been waiting for insulin for 3 months a day. I came for my wife. How much has passed to insulin from drugs thinking to have easier. While the costs are very high because with a pension of 90 euros we have been fined. We bought insulin has 3.99. It costs 12 euros a month to buy insulin. There is no aspirin either. Municipalities do not coordinate with the ministry. “Qaty is costing us citizens.”
