Elezi: More than 18 thousand dead have been removed from the voting list

The names of more than 18,000 dead people have been removed from the Local Election voting list, which will be distributed at polling stations on election day on October 17.

CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi told KosovaPress that the Central Election Commission after the last parliamentary elections on February 14 this year, has continued with various activities in order to clean and accuracy of the voter list.

“The Central Election Commission has continued with the cleaning of the voter list. In this regard, a great deal of work has been done in the last elections which were held on 14 February. Since the last election process, the CEC has found a special method that serves the cleansing and accuracy of the voter list. From the pension department that operates within the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, we have received a database with the names of persons who have left the pension scheme due to death and CEC officials have gone to the field and have verify this data “, said Elezi.

According to Elez, the on-site verification process was done through the civil status offices in the municipalities; local religious communities and through village representatives.

“After the early elections of February 14, the number of people who left the voter list as dead is 18 thousand 252. Most of them, 14 thousand 81 names, were removed from the voter list because they left from the pension scheme ”, announced Elezi.

The CEC spokesman, Elezi, also announced that the persons who have renounced the citizenship of the Republic of Kosovo will not be part of the voting list. This number, only after the early elections of February 14, 2021, is 1 thousand 158 people.

At the beginning of September, the Central Election Commission certified the final list of voters, which shows the number of voters inside and outside Kosovo for the Local Elections 2021. According to this list, which will be distributed in polling stations on October 17, contains 1 million 885 thousand 448 names of voters, while the number of citizens who have managed to successfully register as voters outside Kosovo is 15 thousand 532 voters.

On election day in Kosovo, 883 polling stations will be opened, with a total of 2,477 polling stations.

Sveçla says he has proposed voting on the decision to house Afghans in Kosovo

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, said that he proposed the voting of the decision on the need to provide temporary and immediate protection of Kosovo, for the Afghan citizens who have been collaborators of the American government.

Sveçla, through a Facebook post, said that this decision was launched to provide assistance to people at risk and their basic rights have been violated due to the war and conflict in Afghanistan.

“The images we are seeing today, not so long ago were the images we lived ourselves and the protection we proposed to offer today, was presented and implemented as a concept precisely for the exodus of Kosovar refugees in the 90’s to come out in aid of Kosovo, which today has the will to return this good. This decision paves the way for this category for a country where they will stay temporarily, safe, enjoy all the fundamental rights under our legislation as well as institutional support until a long-term solution is established in the United States of America.

“This effort to save lives is a moral obligation of our country, and a human principle which is being given an institutional character and is an uninterrupted cooperation with the American state, as an ally in this process and in all important processes developed in “Kosovo”, he said. / klankosova

Many citizens in Tirana have expressed interest in voting in the parliamentary elections in Albania. They told KosovaPress that the whole voting process was easy, but that it should end honestly.

Citizen Arben Fufgjiu says for KosovaPress that the DP will win the elections.

“I say that the DP will win, it held it for eight years and did nothing,” he said.

Whereas, the citizen who refused to reveal his name, said that if the change in the country did not win, woe to the Albanian youth.

“If the Alliance for Change did not win, woe to you youth,” he said.

Meanwhile, according to the citizen Shkëlqim Çollaku, the most important thing is that the elections are free and fair.

“They must be free and honest,” he said.

The citizen Aferdita Merkaj, after exercising her right to vote, said that from these elections she expects the country to move forward.

“People know the difference, not just one person, the people know. The people are throwing it for whoever wants to take power there, not with manipulations, not with murder, not with violence as it is done here, because I live in France and here it is a scandal, I also voted in France but not like here “People’s lives are unacceptable,” she said.

The interest of the citizens to vote is expressed by the chairman of the CEAZ in the school, “Vasil Shanto”, Ergin Koltoku.

“Our CEAZ consists of 95 polling stations. So far the voting has been calm, there have been no incidents, except for the electronic identification device which has presented problems in almost the entire district of Tirana. “But we have tried to choose them with the relevant operators… the participation of citizens is high”, he said.

The LDK leadership is debating the issue of voting or not voting for the President

The members of the Presidency have started to gather at the headquarters of the Democratic League of Kosovo.

Former Minister of Health, Armend Zemaj and former Minister of Agriculture, Besian Mustafa, were also seen entering.

In this meeting is expected to be taken a decision regarding the issue of electing the President, a position which is aimed at Vjosa Osmani, who left the LDK to win later in the general parliamentary elections, where he ran together with the Vetëvendosje Movement. the party of its former political rival, Albin Kurti.

LDK leader, Lumir Abdixhiku, after the early parliamentary elections has met at least twice with Vjosa Osmani to discuss the possibility of MPs of this party to support him to be elected president.

Osmani definitely needs the support of her former party to take the position of head of state, as the other two opposition parties, PDK and AAK, have openly stated that they will not do so.

The LDK will decide today on the meeting of the Presidency, which excluded senior party officials such as Agim Veliu and Driton Selmanaj, who were considered the biggest ‘enemies’ of Osman and guilty of the worst result ever that the party won in the February 14 election. Veliu and Selmanaj, but also former Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti, who have been elected MPs, will hardly vote for Vjosa Osmani for president. They think that Osmani had made a mistake by constantly opposing the decisions of the party under the leadership of Isa Mustafa./express

"I have been voting for Vetëvendosje for 10 years"

The well-known Albanian singer, Mimoza Mustafa, was recently invited to one of the chronicles of the show “Prive”.

She recounted the five most important dates in her life, citing different moments from her private and professional life.

While quoting that for her, dates like the one in Kosovo after the end of the war, the coronation, the birthday of her husband and son and the launch date of the album “Sadist” are important, Mimoza surprised by adding at the end a date of this year.

She mentioned February 14 as one of the five most important dates in her life, but did not mention Valentine.

Singer Mustafa said that February 14, 2021 is important for her, because on this day were held the extraordinary parliamentary elections, where the winner was the party she supports, Lëvizja Vetëvendosje.

“I am not one of those who just want change, I have been with the Vetëvendosje Movement for many years, I have been voting for it for 10 years.

And I think that this change that has come to us has been necessary, so there has been a lot of dissatisfaction, the difficult economic situation, then the old policy which is already being seen.

Then I experienced very badly the fall of the government as a citizen in times of pandemic, so it was hard not only for me, but for most.

I am a very big supporter of the Vetëvendosje Movement.

“I knew to be a lot of fans, maybe with friends or family when we discussed, and I defended my views,” said Mimoza.

Hundreds of citizens from the diaspora are denied voting

He has been living in the Belgian capital, Brussels, for ten years, but Ardian Mripa continues to be closely associated with Kosovo. The 35-year-old, originally from Mitrovica, holds dual citizenship and was enthusiastic about voting in the February 14th snap parliamentary elections.

“I have Kosovo documents and when I applied by e-mail I attached the required documents,” Mripa said in an interview with Radio Free Europe.

He then says that he has not received any more calls or e-mails from the Central Election Commission (CEC).

“I have complained twice to the ECAP (Election Complaints and Appeals Panel), but they have never responded to me,” Mripa said.

Similarly, Arlind Alidema, who has lived in New York for three years, says he was not included in the final voter list, despite meeting all the criteria.

Alidema, 25, who had gone to the US for a Master’s degree in Diplomacy and International Relations, criticizes Kosovo’s institutions for irresponsibility.

“After the final list of voters was announced, I saw that the deadline for appealing to the ECAP was only 24 hours. But when I saw the announcement I had only two hours left to complain. In the meantime, another notification was published by the ECAP that they do not receive complaints via e-mail, but only by mail. “If I had done this, my complaint would not have arrived until two days before the elections”, says Alidemaj.

According to him, this situation demotivates all those who want to vote.

The chairman of PDK, at the same time the candidate for prime minister, Enver Hoxhaj held an electoral rally in Suhareka, where he spoke in front of the citizens of this municipality about the Recovery Plan.

There Hoxhaj pledged a fund of 1 billion euros to exit the crisis caused by the pandemic and 500 million euros of support for businesses.

“Our first priority is economic development, supporting the economy in small enterprises, medium enterprises, large enterprises, in a fund which is worth 1 billion euros. We can not increase the territory of Kosovo, but we can increase the economy of Kosovo, we can increase the welfare of Kosovo, we can increase the number of employees in Kosovo, so I know the first week, the first month, the first 100 days “Better than anyone else what should be done to get the country out of the economic and political crisis in which the two failed governments, Kurti and Hoti, have plunged,” he said.

Hoxhaj demanded that the pain for the absence of Thaçi and Veseli be turned into pride for PDK, voting strongly on February 14.

“Despite the pain we have for our friends who are not in Theranda today, who are not in Kosovo today, but are in The Hague, let us return the pain to pride. “And I invite you here in Theranda as I invite every citizen of Kosovo everywhere in Kosovo to translate the pain with pride and the pain turns into pride by voting strongly for the Democratic Party of Kosovo which will win the elections on February 14”, has said Hoxhaj.
