The process of census of population, housing and households in Kosovo, scheduled to be held in September this year, is required to be postponed to 2022.
This is due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the holding of elections.
Leaders of the Kosovo Agency of Statistics say that the census, which has a cost of about 11 million euros, should have started in April 2021, but has been postponed to September this year.
Although, even September for the Deputy Chairman of KAS, Ilir Berisha is inappropriate, because as he says local elections and especially the Covid-19 pandemic, has influenced the institutional request to postpone the registration for April 2022.
Berisha said in an interview for KosovaPress, that based on the recommendations of the United Nations statistics of Eurostat and to have a successful registration, another period is required due to the pandemic conditions, which affects the quality of registration of population.
From the last population census conducted in 2011, the number of resident population in Kosovo, according to KAS data was 1,820,631 inhabitants./euronews
