The creator of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, Professor Dame Sarah Gilbert, recently stated that the coronavirus, most likely, will not undergo a more severe mutation and over time will return to a common cold.
During a seminar at the Royal Society of Medicine, the scientist said that viruses tend to become less virulent as they circulate in the population and therefore there is no reason that there would be a more severe variant of Sars-CoV -2.
The 59-year-old also revealed that she is making efforts to secure funding to take measures to prevent future pandemics and said urgent investment is needed to prevent the spread of other infectious diseases worldwide.
Her comments come after Professor Chris Whitty warned the day before that almost all unvaccinated children will be infected with COVID-19 at some point in the future and about half of young people have been infected with the virus./A2/
